RESEARCHER PROFILES

Researcher profiles allow researcher's to create their own personal IDs and automatically load all their research results under the same ID. The researcher's personal ID helps distinguish researchers from each other and avoids the problem of author's name confusion for each publication that has been publish. Here are some of the platforms that have Researcher Profiles used by researchers:

 

1.             

  • The Scopus Author ID is an identifier used in the Scopus database. It has a unique 11-digit identifier that is automatically generated to the author after the author publishes an article in the Scopus index. Each published publication will identify the Scopus Author ID through the author's name used.

  • Researcher ID is a freely available resource for researchers. Researchers need to register and will be given an individual ID number that stays with them throughout the researcher's career. Additionally, Researcher ID allows researchers to create an online profile to showcase a researcher's publication history.

  • ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor Identifier) is a non-profit organization that provides unique digital identifiers to researchers. Anyone involved with research, scholarship, and innovation can register an ORCID ID for free throughout the researcher's career even if there is a name change or move to another organization and country.

  • Google Scholar Profile is a convenient platform for authors to showcase researchers' academic publications. Additionally, Google Scholar can check who cited your article, graph citations over time and calculate some citation metrics.
