LIBRARY REGULATIONS

  1. All UniMAP Library users are subject to the rules of the Universiti Malaysia Perlis Library

  1. Only users with a smart card or permission letter are allowed to enter and use the collections, services, and facilities of the UniMAP Library.

  1. Library users are not allowed to use other users' smart cards.

  1. Users are not allowed to remove any Library materials without proper borrowing authorization.

  1. Taking out Library materials without authorization is a violation

  1. Users are responsible for renewing overdue printed or electronic book loans for
    the benefit of other users.

  1. All Library staff are authorized to enforce these rules.

  1. In suspicious scenarios or situations, Library staff reserve the right to inspect any bags or belongings brought into or taken out of the library premises at any time.

  1. The Chief Librarian reserves the right to bar users who violate the rules from utilizing Library facilities, and disciplinary action may be taken if necessary.

  1. Users must comply with the Copyright Act 1987 and are fully responsible for any actions under this act.

  1. The Library reserves the right to request users to leave the premises if their behavior disrupts the comfort of other users or the harmony of the Library.

  1. Users are allowed to bring food and beverages into the Library's Ground Floor and may only consume them in designated areas.

  1. Users are allowed to bring drinks in covered containers into the open space of the library.

  1. Smoking (including electronic cigarettes) is strictly prohibited in compliance with the Smoke-Free Campus Policy at UniMAP.

  1. Users must dress neatly and appropriately in accordance with the rules set by the Student Affairs Department of Universiti Malaysia Perlis.

  1. Mobile phone users in the Library must be mindful of other users and must avoid disrupting the Library's ecosystem.

  1. Users are responsible for maintaining the harmony of the Library and respecting the other users while using the Library's resources, facilities, and services.

  1. Users who moved furnitures and equipment are responsible to reposition the items back to their original station as to preserve the Library's ambience and conducive environment.

  1. Users are prohibited from engaging in vandalism activities or any activities that inclined toward vandalism to protect the property of the University.

  1. The Library will not be responsible for any loss or damage to personal items left inside and outside the Library.

  1. Users are allowed to bring bags and personal items into the Library premises. However, keeping personal belongings safe is entirely the user's responsibility.

  1. Users are fully responsible for the safety of materials in their Library accounts. In case of damage or loss, borrowers must report the incident to the Access Services Unit immediately. To replace lost or damaged materials, users may choose one of the following options:

a)             Replace the material with the same or latest edition, or

b)             Pay double the cost of the material along with a service charge.

  1. If the user violates any of the Library established rules, the user is subject to the Statutory Bodies (Discipline and Surcharge) Act 2000 [Act 605] or the University and College (Universiti Malaysia Perlis) (Student Discipline) Rules 2024.
