The aim of this course is to introduce and develop the energy that can be generated from bioresources or biomass which is the alternative way of producing energy from fossil-based fuels. This course intends to teach the students of emphasizing the use of more environmental-friendly technologies which can lead to reduction of pollution, sustain and maintain the ecology system. This course starts with the introduction of biomass resources and the characteristics of biofuels followed by the analysis of the biological processes in producing ethanol and butanol. In the subsequent weeks, the students will be taught the chemical and thermochemical processes in producing biodiesel, biohydrogen and methane biogas. This course ends with the proposal of production of biofuels from microalgae and seaweeds.
